Almost to Sydney
December 18th, 2006
The delivery crew of Creative inTension are almost to Sydney after almost 4 and a half days at sea. The crew where belted by a 40 plus knot northerly on their trip around Tasman Island on Wednesday night in what was another good test for the boat. By the time the crew had dropped off Lucy & Hugh at Louiville Point on Tasmania’s East Coast near Orford a southerly change had moved its way up the coast providing for an easier and more comfortable ride for the crew.
The Southerly held with the crew all the way across Bass Strait and up past Eden on the New South Wales Coast. The trip however was not without its drama after the spinnaker pole hit the water and snapped in half, other damage to occur was both the Jib halyard and the mainsail halyard breaking. The crew where able to still utilise the mainsail halyard but a new one will be flown up with the rest of the race crew on Friday.
The crew have been in regular contact with other Hobart yachts currently undertaking deliveries including Sally Rattle’s Archie which is heading to Melbourne to compete in the Melbourne to Hobart Yacht race. The Crew of Creative inTension wish them the best of luck as I am sure all our readers do as well.
This Morning the crew where refuelling Creative inTension at Kiama for the final dig to Sydney and hopefully arriving before dark tonight.
