The Bruny

February 10th, 2007

OK,
Internet connection finally,
Ebverytime i get a chace to come down stairs from a sail change there is no connection.
but we are in the channel and things are looking good.

A small fleet of around 12 yachts started the 2007 Bruny Island race with Dr Who, Fruit, Creative inTension Intrigue and ABN Amro the main contenders. Creative inTension was the most windward boat on the line at the start with Dr Who towards the pin end.
The fleet split early after the start in a light southerly. Dr Who gained the early advantage and leads the fleet by about 1 mile with Intrigue, Fruit, ABN and Creative inTension in a close battle just south of the Iron Pot.Yachts have been able to utilise their reaching sails with the breeze clocking slightly to the east.
This years course takes the fleet in a clockwise direction outside bruny then back home up the channel.
by the time 12:30 had rolled around the leading yachts had bunched up in almost a strait line but spread over about .5 of a mile. dr Who still leads an is the most western boat out to Creative inTension to the east a little offshore.
Dr Who rounded the Fryers at around 3:20pm just ahaead of ABN.Intrigue wasn’t far behind withe Fruit leading Creative inTension just behind. All yachts ran accross te bottom of the island creative inTension was doing around 10knots. Dr Who rounded into the Cannel right on 4pm and have continued to leadc the fleet up the channel. The order from the Fryers still remains although Fruit and Creative inTension have made good gains on Intrigue.
The fleet is progressing well up the channell and look good for a decent finish time.
dont forget to check out the gallery.
