Three Peaks Race Delivery
For those who did not come, I am happy to say that we arrived at Beauty Point at 10.20 last Sunday morning, and the boat is safely tied up in the Marina. We had a fair bit of breeze on the Friday, and had a good run under the small Asymmetrical spinnaker between Maria & Schouten at about 17 knots, but it got up to 40 knots & we were down to 3 reefs & the 4 beam reaching, so we stayed in Bicheno for Friday night. We then had a light wind sail through Banks Straight, before the last 20 miles on the nose before getting to Launceston. Nothing broke (apart from Baxy’s leg – well he cut it pretty badly, but he can tell the story), and the job list is still relatively short but important (new deck speakers). We also got our safety check with the organizers done, and we have the bow stickers on, so we are right to start. The only thing left is for the runners to check off their gear with the race office before the race.
For those who don’t know, Wild West either fell off a wave, or hit something or both in Banks Straight, which holed it pretty badly, and they managed to limp into Bridport. The boat will be trucked home from there.
