Arrived at Flinders (finally)
April 8th, 2007
After midafter almost 24 hrs in dtifting conditions Cretaive Intension arrived at Lady Barron.
An reasonable effort during the sometimes frustrating conditions was marred by an unfortunate mishap on the way into Franklin Sounds. After crossing the shortened course finish line of 148 degrees Longitude we proceeded to cut across a shortcut that was clearly impassable on the chart but which we had been assured by a couple of locals would take us at high water. We crept along the deeper shore to be nearly out of the channel only to hit the bar blocking the final few metres. Unable to get back off it due to tidal flow by our own steam, we were assisted off the shoal by Team Navy who diverted to provide assistance.
Jacki and Marcel have set a cracking pace up the Mountain and are due to return around 9:30 this morning when it is onward to Freycinet for the next chapetr of a pretty slow race.
